- A Scottish town has been named the country’s top property hotspot of 2025, as well as one of the top 10 housing hotspots in the UK. Lloyds Banking Group has published a list of the locations across the nation that have experienced the biggest rises in property value this year compared with 2024.
- On Tuesday, December 30, Lloyds shared its report of the places across the UK where prices have shot up the most. The only Scottish location to feature on the list is the town of Falkirk in Scotland, situated around halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
- Falkirk was previously a notable centre of heavy industry during the Industrial Revolution, but today is best known for attractions such as the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. It is also a popular commuter town amongst those working in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
- According to the experts, Scotland overall also experienced a rise in the average property value between 2024 and 2025. As a whole, the value of housing in the country saw an increase of 3.7 per cent this year.
- Topping the overall list of the housing hotspots this year was the port city of Plymouth in England. Other locations that feature in the top 10 include Stafford, Wigan, and Wakefield.
