Hearts will be presented with the Premiership trophy in front of a packed Tynecastle on Wednesday night if results mean they are crowned champions in the next four days.
Ahead of a blockbuster title-deciding week Record Sport understands SPFL chiefs are ready to act should the destination of the crown be decided with a game to spare.
That means they WILL hand over the top flight silverware before the final round of games – and crucially in front of Hearts’ own fans – on Wednesday night if results go in Derek McInnes’ side’s favour.
It also means having the Premiership trophy sitting ready to be claimed by the winner of a dramatic final day shoot out between Celtic and Hearts at Parkhead should it go the distance.
In that scenario Hearts would take the podium in front of only 752 travelling fans next Saturday before getting the party started back in the capital.
Should Rangers somehow claw their way back into contention on the final day then the trophy would be on standby to head to the Falkirk Stadium too should Danny Rohl’s side pull off a miraculous recovery.
Some Jambos diehards had feared Hearts would be presented with the trophy on the final day in front of a tiny corner of fans at Parkhead even if they were crowned champions days earlier.
But league chiefs are ready to give McInnes’ players the chance to take the podium on home turf if they get over the line early.
And that’s a situation former Hearts hero Ryan Stevenson is praying unfolds in the next four days.
He told Record Sport: “It would just be so fitting to do it at home in front of the supporters. I just hope the Gods are looking down on Hearts!
“I can imagine the streets will be awash in maroon no matter what. Outside the ground as well would just be unreal. Regardless, the main thing is making sure it happens now.
“It would be something I think as fans we all hope happens on Wednesday as it’ll be scenes we will be able to take to the grave with us.”
Hearts – three points ahead of Celtic – face Motherwell at Fir Park this evening before the Old Firm go head-to-head on Sunday in the third last matchday.
The Jambos are bidding to become the first team outside of the Old Firm to become champions of Scotland since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen 41 years ago.
They have led the Premiership table for all but one night since the end of September after a sensational season which has seen them defeats Rangers three times and Celtic twice.
All will be decided in the next six days.
Hearts are at home to Falkirk on Wednesday night while Celtic travel to face Motherwell and Rangers – currently seven points adrift – are at home to Hibs.
Then Celtic host Hearts on what could be a winner-takes-all showdown on the final day next Saturday while Rangers head to Falkirk.
