The firm had been trading for 10 years.

Another Scottish-based company has ceased trading. It comes as many sectors across the high street are being impacted by challenging economic conditions.

Cars4You Limited, originally headquartered in Edinburgh, has entered administration after a decade. Founded in 2016, the independent, family-run business operated from five main showrooms across Scotland.

These were located Straiton, Dunfermline, Falkirk and two in Edinburgh. The business had an inventory of around up to 1,500 used cars, alongside light commercial vehicles.

However, directors officially appointed administrators earlier this week, resulting in all 26 employees being made redundant. George Lafferty of BTG was appointed the administrator of Cars4You Ltd Limited on October 2, reports the National.

Information on the motor firm’s Companies House page also confirms that it has entered administration, with the registered address now changing to the administrators’. The Cars4You Ltd website is also no longer available.

Thomas McKay, managing partner of BTG in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “The used car retailing sector is facing increasing pressure as consumer spending tightens, and this means that we are seeing some retailers struggle across the market as others can still thrive.

“Having only recently been appointed we will be looking in detail and in due course we will be making a report to creditors about the reasons for, and circumstances of the failure in this particular case.”

McKay went on to confirm that all 26 employees had “sadly” been made redundant upon his appointment. Administrators are now working closely with impacted employees, offering help to access any support and financial entitlements available to them.

This includes assistance from Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) and the Redundancy Payments Service. McKay added: “Our priority is to ensure the employees receive the guidance and advice they need during this process, and also to maximise the return from the sale of assets including vehicle stock to benefit the creditors.”

It’s just the latest Scottish business to enter administration within the past few weeks. Another family-run firm, Aromantic Limited Business, also collapsed, leaving 11 employees redundant.

The “UK’s leading provider of organic beauty and natural skincare” provided more than 400 naturally made cosmetic ingredients. Based in the Greshop Industrial Estate, Forres, its main customer base was beauty therapists and salon owners.

However, the firm experienced a “fall in revenue”, leading to Christopher Horner and Kevin Pinkerton of Business Rescue Expert being appointed as joint administrators on September 23.

Edinburgh-based video game firm Build A Rocket Boy (BARB) also collapsed. Founded by a former Grand Theft Auto developer, the firm appointed Opus Restructuring as administrators on September 29, resulting in 36 jobs being lost.

It was the second blow for the business following a tough launch for its game MindsEye in 2025 that was dubbed “the worst game” of the year and “relentlessly dull”. In the aftermath, it was reported that between 250 and 300 members of staff were made redundant.

The home developing sector has also been impacted by significant challenges. Salo Property Services Ltd, which was building a three-property development on Queens’s Road, Dunbar, collapsed earlier in July.

This led to none of the properties being completed, with administrators saying the housing firm had “insufficient funds”. It was also proposed that the company be moved from administration to dissolution.
