The Parkhead side are seeking upgrades in key positions in a bid to breathe new life into a season packed with setbacks
Celtic boss Martin O’Neill isn’t known for mincing his words and his message to a fanbase living on their nerves is simple – we want multiple quality signings.
The 73-year-old insisted he couldn’t be more aware of the need for additions to a squad he knows needs upgrades in key positions.
Celtic are locked in a three-way fight for the Premiership title with Hearts plus Rangers and are one win away from the Europa League playoff round if they defeat a Utrecht side playing only for personal pride.
There’s no secret that O’Neill’s desires come in four key positions – central defence, midfield, right wing and another striker to bolster the ranks.
But will the club icon get his wish?
O’Neill was directly told of the festering anger surrounding the lack of financial outlay at his pre-match press conference before facing the Dutch side and pledged the club were working tirelessly to correct that.

Kasper Hogh
The man of the moment. Hogh added to his burgeoning reputation with the winner for Bodo/Glimt against Atletico Madrid to send the Norwegians into the Champions League playoffs. Norwich have tabled a £6.9million bid and Celtic have been watching on. Hogh’s status has been complicated by Bodo’s progression.
The January signing window in Norway opens in the coming days and runs to March 26, however, Kjetil Knutsen’s side must register any replacements in February before the Champions League playoff clash. If Hogh goes, Bodo must move quickly as any potential winter break for their players is now off the table as their Euro dream continues.
It’s understood a decision on Hogh’s future is expected imminently.
Aurele Amenda
The towering defender wanted out of Eintracht Frankfurt because of a lack of game time, however he has started the last two matches.
Amenda is aiming for a spot in Switzerland’s World Cup squad and appeared set to leave the Bundesliga side on loan for the remainder of the season. But incoming boss Albert Riera’s verdict on the 23-year-old’s suitability could decide his fate before the window closes.
Tawanda Maswanhise
Celtic fans can be guilty of casting doubt on potential signings from fellow Premiership side, but that isn’t the case with the jet-heeled Zimbabwe international. The 23-year-old is widely regarded as a star in the making but Motherwell are hell-bent on keeping their electric talisman for the remainder of the season.
Niko Sigur
The Hadjuk Split enforcer appeared destined for a January exit but now appears set to stay for the remainder of the season.
It’s understood the Canada international – a team-mate of Alister Johnston at international level – has been on Celtic’s radar for some time and there have been intimations he would jump at the chance at a move to Glasgow. The 22-year-old is valued around £3m.
Silas Andersen
The 21-year-old Dane has turned heads at Hacken and a report has claimed Celtic are the favourites to land his signature.. He has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal and has also been linked to Rangers.
Felix Horn Myhre
The 26-year-old has been linked with Celtic after his exploits in the Europa League with Brann. But Brondby are pushing ahead to land the Norway international before their transfer window closes.
Ignacio Laquintana
The Uruguay international – who shares an agent with Marcelo Saracchi – is being pushed once more as a viable option to bolster O’Neill’s options on the right side and bolster his own World Cup hopes.
