Former Man Utd star McTominay insists there is only one winner when it comes to his favourite moniker
Sensational Scott McTominay bagged a brace to put Napoli in pole position to win the Scudetto before plumping for his best nickname as his list of monikers multiplied.
The Scotland superstar is the man at the heart of Antonio Conte’s team, charging three points ahead of Inter after the 2-0 win over Torino was powered by the all-action 28-year-old.
And he is the toast of Naples, of course, and he was hit with his hardest challenge of the night when asked to name his top nickname bestowed on him by the club who adores the former Manchester United star.
He is known as MacGyver, the bottle opener, McTerminator and a Neapolitan favourite McFratm – a Scottish twist on the phrase for brother in the city he now runs.
And McTominay insists there is only one winner, speaking to DAZN, he said: “McFratm is the best one! Pasquale Mazzocchi would say that one.”
On the title itself, the man who is a star for both club and country is refusing to get too far ahead despite leaving Inter on the outside looking in.
He added: “It would mean the world, obviously the squad did it two years ago. We mustn’t get too high, as now we are leading the race, but we’ve got to keep calm, keep everything relaxed and go game by game. This game isn’t important unless we win the next one and the one after that. So let’s stay calm and see where it gets us.”
And McTominay is loved by his fans as well as his pals in the dressing room as Leonardo Spinazzola waxed lyrical about the player without comparison.
He added: “You can see the player he is, I can only say that he is a special guy, golden, always smiling and happy, an incredible worker. We are so lucky to have him.
“From the first day, we’ve been working with incredible dedication. It’s only right to believe, to fight for this objective, because it has been such a long journey. We know how hard we worked to get here.”
