Video shows the man on board the Edinburgh to Palma de Mallorca flight swinging at police
A ‘drunk’ passenger was spotted punching an officer during an arrest on a flight – leaving holidaymakers scared. Ritchie Denholm watched on in shock after one traveller clashed with multiple guards who had boarded the plane to remove him.
The 40-year-old quickly whipped out his phone to capture the events when the rowdy man punched one of the officers in the face. According to Ritchie, a man and a woman at the front of the plane were extremely ‘drunk’ when they boarded the aircraft.
“They were very drunk before leaving Edinburgh, lovers’ tiff and it all started,” Ritchie, from Edinburgh, told NeedToKnow. “The crew intervened until landing, then when they found out they’re getting arrested they started again. Some passengers were scared and shocked.”
The shocking clash took place on a Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Palma de Mallorca. Ritchie claimed the duo had been drunk before they even set foot on the plane, which took off on June 16. The footage shows a number of officers making their way towards the rowdy pair.
WARNING: The video below does contain scenes of violence
One officer begins grappling with the man to remove him before being punched in the face. The video then cuts to three male officers holding the man down with one seemingly punching him. Another officer can be seen hitting the man with a baton-like item.
Ritchie said: “If I’m honest, they should’ve been battered more. No one should put anyone at risk on a flight considering things that have happened on flights in the past. There should be more security on flights to stop anyone intoxicated getting on.”
