The former Tottenham boss’ methods have long been adored by his former city rival
Beaming Ange Postecoglou appears set to receive a warm reception from one man inside the Emirates when he makes his Nottingham Forest debut against old rivals Arsenal.
Because the former Tottenham boss’ methods have long been adored by Mikel Arteta who was been willing on countless occasions to park a fierce rivalry to extol the virtues of the 60-year-old.
Postecoglou paid with his job at Spurs due to a wretched 17th-placed Premier League finish but Angeball soared en route to Europa League glory – the club’s first trophy in 17 years before being named Nuno’s successor earlier this week.
And Arteta has gone way beyond niceties when talking about Postecoglou on countless occasions. The former Rangers star thinks highly of the former ex-Celtic boss and his life less ordinary en route to the Premier League.
The Spaniard – speaking before the Arsenal travelled to Spurs exactly a year ago – said: “I admire him. I admire him and I respect him. I think he has been an inspirational coach in my career because he has done things in his own way in various contexts, in various countries.
“He has a very unique way of thinking about the game and his philosophy and I love it.
“He stands by it and I think, as well, he represents himself and the club in a really good way.”
Expect more pleasantries but the stakes are high for both as Forest aim to keep pace at the top end of the table and the Gunners cannot afford more dropped points after losing to champions Liverpool.
