Marks and Spencer has given their iconic caterpillar cakes a makeover for Valentine’s Day this year and it has set shoppers swooning over them.
The British retail giant’s Colin and Connie Caterpillars are being sold together for the most romantic day of the year where shoppers can get them both for just £10.
This is only the second time the adorable chocolate caterpillars have been sold together as a couple, following their whirlwind ‘romance’ throughout the past few years.
Since Connie the Caterpillar was introduced to store shelves back in 2016, fans who grew up with Colin for their childhood birthday cake have witnessed the two ‘get hitched’ after M&S released a limited-edition bride and groom version in 2017.
Up until last year, shoppers were only able to purchase the adorable cakes separately.
Last Valentine’s Day, the high-street retailer unionised the two for the first ever time in a ‘love cocoon’ which was such a hit with shoppers they have decided to bring it back.
Sharing a snap of the limited-edition romantic pairing to their social media accounts, fans have certainly been feeling like there is love in the air.
The couple are being sold together as mini-sized forms of their original sizes and come featuring the beloved chocolate sponge with buttercream frosting.
They captioned the post: “PSA: our limited-edition “love is in the air” Colin and Connie cakes have landed in store! Pick up two for £10 and create your perfect couple – Colin and Colin, Connie and Connie or Colin and Connie. Who would you share these with?”
With nearly 3,000 likes and over 1,000 comments from love-struck customers, it’s safe to say that M&S shoppers are delighted with the adorable pairing.
“How cute are these – I’m going to get the girls one each”, wrote one enthusiastic shopper.
“Deffo putting them both right in my basket !!!”, said another happy shopper.
“Fabulous, only M&S ones are worth having. Can’t beat quality”, praised a third shopper.
While a fourth shopper exclaimed: “these are so cute!”
And this is not the only whirlwind paring for Colin that has taken shoppers by quite the storm, after the chocolate cake seems to have buried the hatchet with rival Aldi’s Cuthbert.
Both M&S and Aldi captivated the nation in what is now dubbed the “caterpillar cake wars” following a copyright dispute, but reports have suggested they have come to an agreement just before Valentine’s Day.
M&S’ limited-edition ‘love is in the air’ Colin and Connie caterpillar cakes are available in-stores now for just £10.
