Rangers loan defender Max Aarons could be set to win a dream move to La Liga high-fliers Villarreal after they targeted him for next season.
The full back returned to Bournemouth after a disappointing season on loan at Ibrox, with Rangers ending the campaign trophyless.
Aarons did make 35 appearances for Rangers this term, but only made eight starts in the Premiership and signed off after coming on as a first half sub during Danny Rohl’s men’s final league game of the season at Falkirk.
He looks certain to have no future with English Premier League side Bournemouth and is reportedly wanted in Spain with Villarreal.
Villarreal are in a battle for third place with Atletico Madrid and will play Champions League football next season.
Arrons has experience of playing in La Liga before after a loan spell with Valencia where he played five times for them last season.
The 26-year-old still has three years left of his deal at Bournemouth and Villarreal would rather explore a loan option for Aarons.
