Argos has dropped a premium Freeview box down to its ‘lowest ever’ price and shoppers are making the switch.
While many people have switched over to streaming their favourite TV shows and films through the internet, there are still millions of households who still use an aerial to tune into popular channels.
One of the most popular services is the Sky Q box, which has been providing homes across the UK with endless channels to tune into for over 10 years. Along with a variety of features, such as full voice controls, many people have snapped up this box due to its ability to record shows and movies on its in-built hard drive.
However, with a monthly cost of £32, some people have been looking for alternative devices that can offer some of the same features for a cheaper price.

Argos has reduced the price of the Manhattan T4-R 2TB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder down to its ‘lowest price ever’ of £217, which is a one time payment that will allow users to watch all their favourite freeview channels with no extra cost.
Equipped with access to 60,000 hours of content available through on-demand services, the Manhattan T4-R comes with a speedy processor, full 4K visuals and a handy remote that provides fast access to your favourite channels, reports the Express.

With a 2TB hard drive, this device can record up to 1,200 hours of TV as well as provide access to over 60,000 hours of on-demand and catch up TV. Shoppers will also be able to pause and rewind their favourite freeview channels.
However, what makes this box stand out is that it features a whopping 2TB of storage, which allows users to record up to 1,200 hours of TV, so shoppers can easily keep up to date with their favourite shows. Additionally, shoppers will be able to pause and rewind over 100 freeview channels for added convenience.
Before purchasing this item however, it should be noted that this freeview box won’t have access to premium channels such as Sky Cinema or Sky Sports. If this is a deal breaker, it may be worth looking through Sky’s deals.
Another freeview box that may be of interest is the Freesat Recordable 1TB 4K TV Box. Argos is currently selling it for £259 and it will allow users to record up to 500 hours of content, as well as give access to paid services such as Netflix and Prime Video.
Alternatively, for those wanting to try internet streaming without the subscription costs, Amazon has reduced the price of the Panasonic W60 Series 55-inch 4K Ultra Smart TV which includes Freely. Normally retailing for £344, shoppers can now buy it for the slightly lower price of £329, which is its lowest price in the last month.
Back to the Manhattan T4-R, Argos customers have awarded it a 4.6 star rating with 93 per cent of customers recommending the device.
One satisfied shopper said: “My second TV recorder from Manhattan and am happy with this product. Would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a trouble free top box recorder.”
While another five-star reviewer added: “I like to record programmes to watch when I want to. This has ample storage plus access to apps via the web. Easy to set up. You can fast wind ads and pause live TV. Record two programmes at once plus watch another.”
However, some customers had slight grievances about the device. One person wrote: “Dumped BT tv (cheap tv boxes) for this, so far so good. Only annoying problem so far is I cannot seem to be able to sync the remote control with my tv remote, apart from that I’m very pleased.”
While another shopper added: “It seems a little slow to respond to its remote control at times and sometimes we have to press a button more than once. Also (maybe an issue with our internet) it can be slow to open an on demand App like iPlayer.2
Despite this, a top reviewer said: “Bought a month ago and recorded numerous programs without issues, the picture you get is outstanding, as well as 1200 hrs of space, very easy set-up, by far the best over the years, thinking of another for the kitchen area now.”
While a sixth shopper wrote: “Bought this to replace costly Sky subscription as watch most Freeview channels. Love to be able to record and pause live telly, a must in our house. So easy to install even for those techy phobes, easy on screen instructions to follow and connects easily to WiFi.”
