China is again raising its digital ambitions. This time, it is not only 6G that is on the agenda, but also the construction of a national blockchain network which is targeted to be fundamentally established by 2030.
The plan is part of Beijing’s latest informatics strategy, which includes new generation networks, cyber security, smart internet, and the integration of digital technology with daily economic activities.
China Sets National Blockchain Target by 2030
China’s Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission on Friday (23/10/2026) publish National Informatization 15th Five-Year Planwhich became one of the main guides for technological development until the end of the decade.
One target that has attracted attention is the construction of a national blockchain network. The government wants this infrastructure to be basically established by 2030 and become part of the country’s digital foundation.
This target is included in a broader modernization agenda. Beijing wants information technology not only to develop as a separate sector, but to help strengthen the economy, industry, public services and governance.
“By 2030, our country’s informatics will achieve significant progress and play an increasingly prominent role in driving China-style modernization,” wrote China’s Central Commission for Cyberspace Affairs.
Blockchain technology also goes hand in hand with the development of connectivity. The government wants to form a network that connects land, sea, air and space in an increasingly integrated digital ecosystem.
At the same time, China is also preparing the road to 6G. The government opens up opportunities for commercial use of this technology when the condition and readiness of the infrastructure is considered mature enough.
“The new generation of communications network will be fully built, commercial use of 6G will be launched at the right time, and the national blockchain network will be basically completed,” the report stated.
Blockchain is starting to enter the foundation of digital infrastructure
The position of blockchain in the document is quite interesting. This technology is no longer simply discussed as a specific experiment or application, but is placed as part of the national digital infrastructure.

The direction of development is also broader than just crypto. The government links this to economic digitalization, strengthening the technology industry, developing public services, and increasing governance capabilities.
China wants levels of digitalization, connectivity, and… use of AI which continues to increase. The hope is that technology will not only develop in innovation centers, but will increasingly be felt in economic activities and people’s lives.
“The level of application of digitalization, networking and intelligence in the economy and society will reach a new level, so that the ability to empower economic, social and governance development increases significantly,” as stated in the plan.
Beijing also wants to strengthen innovation capabilities in strategic sectors. The focus includes developing core technology, strengthening the innovation system, and encouraging domestic technology companies to have greater competitiveness.
In this direction, blockchain is positioned as an important technology layer. Not standing alone, but connected to communication networks, digital industry, services and other technologies.
From 6G to Blockchain, Beijing Speeds Up Digital Infrastructure
To pursue this target, they created ten main task groups which include building information infrastructure, strengthening technological innovation, developing digital industry, and improving governance and public services.
The agenda also includes inter-regional coordination, green development, increasing openness, as well as strengthening rules and standards so that technological development continues in a more focused framework.
Security is an important part of this strategy. They want digital growth to go hand in hand with empowerment cyber protectionregulations and standards that are able to keep up with new technological developments.
“Cybersecurity will receive even stronger guarantees, while the legal system and standards will become more complete,” wrote China’s Central Commission for Cyberspace Affairs.
The plan also contains a number of special programs, ranging from information infrastructure, developing an intelligent society, expanding technology companies overseas, to facilitating cross-border data flows.
If all goes according to plan, 2030 could be a watershed moment for China’s digital transformation. It’s not just 6G that is starting to enter the commercial phase, blockchain network national level is also prepared to be part of its foundation.
