Dunfermline are closing in on the signing of experienced defender Efe Ambrose.
St Johnstone have given Ambrose permission to hold more talks with the Pars after struggling for game time with Callum Davidson ‘s side.
The former Celtic, Livingston and Hibs defender looks set to move to East End Park on loan for the rest of the season.
The 33-year-old has been a target for Dunfermline boss John Hughes for the majority of the January window.
But with the loan window remaining open a deal could be pushed over the line within the next 24 hours.
If all goes well then Ambrose could go into the Fifers squad for their weekend clash with Ayr United.
The pair are level on points in seventh and eight and a win at Somerset Park tomorrow for either club would be massive in the Championship relegation scrap.
He had made just seven appearances this season since making the move to Perth from the Lions.
