An inquest has heard how a young woman was found dead in a hotel in Bangor after a night out. Jazmine Mary Smith, of Jamesbrook Close in Birkenhead, had returned to the Menai View Hotel in the early hours of the morning after going out in Bangor with a friend.
At the inquest opening held at Dafydd Orwig Chamber in Caernarfon on Tuesday (May 17), the coroner heard that 21-year-old Jazmine had returned to the hotel after midnight without her friend, who did not get there until later on in the morning. Both had checked in on April 27.
When Ms Smith’s friend arrived at the hotel room, she found her dead. Paramedics attended the scene but she was sadly pronounced dead at 10.49am on April 28. You can get more local news and other story updates by subscribing to our newsletters here.
The inquest heard that Ms Smith, who worked behind a bar, was formally identified by her friend. A post mortem was conducted by Dr Mark Atkinson who provided a cause of death of hanging.
Kate Sutherland, acting senior coroner for North West Wales, adjourned the inquest to a later date pending further investigation.
