If you are in need of a weekend getaway abroad, this Italian spot is perfect thanks to it’s stunning beaches, plenty to do, and cheap flights – it is just a three hour flight away
A travel enthusiast has recommended a stunning spot in Italy as the ideal destination for your next weekend getaway.
As European destinations begin to warm up and bask in sunshine, you might be tempted to escape your daily routine with a trip abroad. While holidays can often come with a hefty price tag, there are some great deals to be had at this time of year.
Choosing less popular locations can help keep costs down – and you might stumble upon hidden gems that none of your friends have discovered yet. Ellie, an online travel guru, insists she’s found “the perfect weekend destination a three hour flight away”.
This comes after her visit to Taormina in Sicily last summer left her in awe. Not only was she captivated by the beauty of the location and the variety of activities on offer, but she was also pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was.

Sharing her experience on her TikTok account @holidazeclub, Ellie said: “This is your sign to spend the weekend in Taormina, Sicily and enjoy 27°C sunshine in September. The perfect 3-night escape.” She spent a total of £50 on return flights.
Ellie posted beautiful images of exquisite restaurants, a charming town, and breathtaking beaches. Taormina boasts its famous ancient Greek theatre and picturesque streets, making it the perfect spot for tourists seeking ‘la dolce vita’ in Sicily.
Ellie shared: “This place has everything you would want in a little Italian break with views of Mount Etna, plenty of bars and restaurants, incredible food, so much to see and do and views over the Mediterranean. What more do you want in a weekend away.”
She continued: “It’s one of those places where everywhere you look is so cute, with so many little side streets, and what’s even better, you can get a cable car down to the beach, you can grab a sun lounger and visit Isola Bella beach.”
Isola Bella – translating to ‘beautiful island’ – is a scenic beach near Taormia. Visitors can unwind on the beach and swim in the turquoise waters. Beach beds are available for hire. Tourists often relish taking a guided boat tour around the area, and going snorkelling.
Ellie, who lodged at the NH Collection, cautions that while flights are affordable, accommodation can be costly. She advises booking your stay as far ahead as possible to dodge steep prices.
Reacting to her video, one person commented: “Was literally just looking at trying to find somewhere for our 25th wedding anniversary. This looks perfect.” “Spent a week in this beautiful place with the hubby to celebrate 10 years married,” another reminisced. “We stayed there some years ago, beautiful place, ” echoed another.
Another tourist labelled it as their “favourite place”.
