There’s something to be said for our love of al fresco drinking. As soon as it looks a bit sunny outside, we are finding a beer garden or planning a garden party.
With the nicer weather set to continue, many of us will be looking for more opportunities to enjoy a drink in the sun. Of course, many wine lovers will confirm that this season is all about a refreshingly, zingy white, and we know one bottle that’s perfect for spring and summer – and it’s less than £10.
Lidl has recently launched its April Wine Tour, showcasing a selection of the best drinks for spring. The latest boasts an assortment of 13 different bottles, including the Haraszthy Sauvignon Blanc Wine.
Out of all the bottles included in the latest line-up, this “refreshing” white has been given a ‘Master of Wine’ rating of 92, the highest of them all. That means it comes highly approved by leading British wine expert Richard Bampfield who collaborates with the German supermarket on its wine collections.
Despite being something of a critically approved darling, this high-value wine doesn’t come with a matching price-tag. Instead, a 75cl bottle comes in at £8.99, meaning wine lovers won’t have to sacrifice taste when it comes to value.
Hailing from the Hungary region, Lidl’s Haraszthy Sauvignon Blanc Wine is said to boast notes of elderflower and a dry finish. According to the supermarket, it offers “a real taste of sunshine”, and is ideal for those who prefer a bone-dry sauvignon, over one with a sweeter finish.
Considering its drier finish, it is said to pair well with lighter dishes. According to Lidl, it works as an accompaniment to the likes of grilled fish and prawns.
Considering its high ranking and reputation, it’s no surprise to hear that the discounter’s Haraszthy Sauvignon Blanc Wine has already caught the attention of a popular wine critic on TikTok who has dubbed it “very delicious” and “rather charming.”
Known as @this.wine.wpman, the expert recently shared her thoughts on the budget tipple to her 45.2K followers on the video sharing platform, where she admitted it was more “subtle” and “delicate” compared to traditional sauvignon wines.
She said: “Wow. Gosh that’s so interesting. It’s fresh and clean and crisp. Then I got this kind of mallow flavour.
After admitting that the taste was “very, very surprising”, the wine critic went on to advise that the taste of the white wine was “very delicious”. She added: “It’s a little more subtle and interesting and really rather charming.
“So, it’s a bit more subtle and delicate and therefore not kind of like punchy. It is acidic and it’s acidic at the finish, but it’s a bit more subtle and pretty.”
She ended her review by confirming that, despite getting notes of rose and nutty aromas, it wasn’t overly textured and was more “light”, before urging devoted followers to give it a try, many of who were easily influenced.

One shopper who immediately went to Lidl after watching the review wrote: “I’ve never been so easily influenced! Cheers!”
And another added: “Definitely going to give it a try.”
