Aasgaard is currently on World Cup duty and found the back of the net in Norway’s 3-2 loss to France last week
Rangers midfielder Thelo Aasgaard is a transfer target for Atalanta – according to a report.
The former Liverpool academy player enjoyed a mixed first season at Ibrox following his £3.5million arrival from Luton but has caught the eye at the World Cup for Norway, scoring in their group stage defeat to France after Erling Haaland and Co had already booked their place in the last 32.
That strike saw him become the first Gers star to get on the scoresheet at sport’s most glamorous tournament since Brian Laudrup achieved the feet while playing for Denmark at the 1998 World Cup.
Norway are hoping to go deep in the tournament and face Ivory Coast this evening for a spot in the last 32.
And according to Corriere Della Sera, 24-year-old Aasgaard is on the radar of 2024 Europa League winners Atalanta.
They claim that the Scouse-born player is very well liked by new Bergamo boss Maurizio Sarri, who has taken over the reins from Raffaele Palladino after leaving Lazio.
The source adds that La Dea will look to step up their attempts to sign Aasgaard after the World Cup.
Atalanta have also been linked with Rangers playmaker Nico Raskin, with reports in Italy claiming that talks have already been opened with the Light Blues over a potential deal for the in-demand Belgium international.
Raskin featured in all three of the Red Devils’ group stage matches at the World Cup and will be desperate to be involved when Rudi Garcia’s men battle Senegal for place in the last 16 on Wednesday.
