The St Mirren wing-back is out of target and McGlynn sees him as ideal competition for Leon McCann
Scottish Cup semi-finalists Falkirk are eyeing a move for St Mirren’s Scott Tanser.
Record Sport understands the Bairns have made the experienced wing-back, whose contract with the Buddies is up in the summer, one of their top summer targets.
John McGlynn is keen to add another left-sided player to compete with Leon McCann, who has excelled and recently signed a new deal.
McGlynn is keen to add more Premiership experience, having already signed Craig Sibbald on a pre-contract with Dundee United.
Tanser, 31, fits that bill, having played in the Scottish top-flight for the last nine years with St Johnstone and now St Mirren.
The Englishman has also had success, lifting the Scottish and League Cup with the Perth side and then the Premier Sports Cup with St Mirren back in December.
St Mirren are also in a bit of limbo as Craig McLeish has been put in interim charge, but there are no concrete plans beyond that, with the Paisley side still battling to avoid the relegation play-off spot.
McGlynn is looking for his team to kick on again next season.
Their remarkable rise has seen the experienced boss take the Bairns from League One up to the Premiership in three seasons.
They have already sealed a top-six finish on their first season back at the top table.
McGlynn and his team are still hoping to have even more success.
They head to Hampden on Saturday for their Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Dunfermline Athletic.
Tanser and St Mirren are involved in the other semi-final 24 hours later when they take on Celtic.
Falkirk chiefs have moved to keep many of their key players on new contracts.
The likes of Barney Stewart, Scott Bain, Finn Yeats, McCann and captain Coll Donaldson have all recently penned extensions.
The Bairns are also discussing new deals with several other players, including Dylan Tait.
The midfielder is out-of-contract at the end of the season.
