The midfielder left Ibrox just 12 months ago but could be on the move again
Helsingborgs IF have launched a bid to try and sign Alex Lowry.
The Swedish side want to take the Wycombe Wanderers playmaker on-loan. The Superetten outfit – where Celtic legend Henrik Larsson had two spells during his illustrious playing career – are managed by Scot Stevie Grieve.
Grieve knows the midfielder well from his time coming through the ranks at Rangers. The 22-year-old left Ibrox to sign for Wycombe in January last year.
He was keen to go out and get regular first-team football after being on the fringes at Rangers for too long. Lowry was signed by the Chairboys when Mike Dodds was in charge.
He has since been replaced by Michael Duff and that has seen Lowry fall down at the pecking order of the English League One side.
It has meant the former Scotland under-21 international has frustratingly got very little football over the last couple of months.
He is keen to get football and needs to look overseas with the domestic transfer markets now closed.
Grieve rates Lowry highly and believes a spell in Sweden could get him back to the best and put him in the shop window.
Lowry also has interest from American side Sacramento Republic. The USL Championship are also keen on the former Hearts loanee.
Grieve is hoping he can win the fight. The head coach is gearing up for his first season at Helsingborgs.
Grieve was head-hunted after a successful stint at Finnish club SJK Seinajoki, who he led into Europe. They play their first fixture against IF Elfsborg in the Svenska Cup.
