The Hoops have stalled on the exit of Marco Tilio and Rapid Vienna could now move on to other options
Rapid Vienna have warned Celtic they could pull the plug on a deal for Marco Tilio.
The Austrians have agreed a £350,000 loan switch, with a £1.3million obligation to buy.
But Celts have blocked a move until they sign another winger.
Brendan Rodgers is desperately short of options on the flanks, having lost £17million star Nicolas Kuhn to Como and long-term crock Jota out of action until 2026.
The Hoops boss only has wide men Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, Yang and Tilio to call upon ahead of Sunday’s Premiership curtain-raiser at home to St Mirren.
And until at least one new attacker arrives, the Scottish champions are reluctant to sanction anymore exits.
That’s left out-of-favour Tilio and Rapid Vienna in limbo. And it’s understood the Austrian Bundesliga club are considering alternative options.
That could see Celtic miss out on a potential £1.6m windfall for a player who has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Meanwhile youngster Mitchell Robertson has penned a season-long loan deal with Inverness Caley Thistle.
The 20-year-old defender has been a mainstay in the club’s B team and was involved in the top team’s pre-season friendlies.
But Robertson will now continue his development in League One as Caley aim to defy their five-point deduction by sealing promotion.
Right-back Ben McPherson is also on the verge of joining Partick Thistle on loan.
McPherson – who also featured for Celts during pre-season – has endured an injury-hit few years but has spent time on loan with Queen’s Park.
Now, he’ll link up with ex-Celt Mark Wilson at Firhill.
As for incomings, Manchester City starlet Jahmai Simpson-Pusey underwent a medical in Glasgow on Friday and is expected to be paraded this weekend.
However, when asked yesterday if any more signings were imminent, Rodgers said: “I will speak to some of the guys this afternoon.
“Nothing really is on the radar as of yet, but you never know, things can move quickly.”
