Roy Keane reckons some Manchester United players shouldn’t pull on the shirt again after a disastrous 4-1 derby loss to Manchester City.
After encouraging signs in the first half, Riyad Mahrez added a brace to Kevin De Bruyne’s double in the second period.
Jadon Sancho’s goal against his former club only proved to be a consolation on a dire day for Ralf Ragnick’s side, who are fifth in the Premier League.
Man City meanwhile are top of the league by six points, although Liverpool in second have a game in-hand.
United legend Keane didn’t pull any of his punches post-match and blasted his former side’s performance, believing some shouldn’t pull on the Red Devils again.
He told Sky Sports: “For any player to give up in a derby – or any game – is unforgivable. There’s no hiding place in top level sport.
“They stopped running. Players weren’t running back and I can’t understand that. It’s really unacceptable and they threw in the towel. Shameful.
“You’ve got to tackle. We saw a reflection of where the team and the club is. You’ve got to have a bit of pride and your own pride has to kick in, at some stage.
“I was getting really frustrated watching it. There were five or six players I was watching, who I think shouldn’t play for Manchester United again.
“It was just shameful that you can’t put your body on the line. Manchester United… I could go on. They gave up four goals and City had another couple of gears to go. Men versus boys.”
