Scotland striker Kieron Bowie could clinch a move back to Serie A in the next 24 hours – and join up with another former Hibs star at Sassuolo.
The ex-Easter Road star is set to move from Verona, who were relegated into Serie B last season.
Bowie made a big impression in Italian football’s top flight last season by netting against Inter Milan, Juventus, Torino and Bologna.
Bologna and Cagliari have also been linked with a swoop for the striker.
But Sassuolo appear to have won the race because they are offering striker Samuele Mulattieri to Verona as part of the deal.
And reports in Italy have indicated Verona and Sassuolo will meet today to thrash out the terms of the transfer, with Bowie valued at around £9million.
Bowie would link up with another former Hibs hero, with Josh Doig having spent two years at the club.
Hibs will be monitoring progress with interest since they inserted a sell-on clause when they transferred him to Italy in January in a £5.5m deal.
