“I have never been more excited about something!!!!!”
Wingstop is continuing its UK takeover and the highly popular US fast-food giant has confirmed another Scottish branch is coming soon – and there’s not long to wait.
On Monday, June 22, the chicken wing chain will officially open in the Glasgow Fort. It will mark the fourth Wingstop in the city overall, as other branches can be found in the St Enoch Centre, Silverburn and on Scotland Street.
It will also take the American giant’s total outlets across Scotland to nine, as it operates an outlet in Aberdeen, Livingston and Fife. Meanwhile, there are two in Edinburgh that can be found in the St James Quarter and also Fountain Park.
Founded in 1994, Wingstop began as a small buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant in Garland, Texas. As of today, it now operates more than 1,500 restaurants across the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, UK, France and the United Arab Emirates.
The food chain kicked off its UK expansion in 2018, rising to a current total of around 67 branches nationwide. It initially came to Scotland in 2021 with the opening of its Edinburgh outlet and it has quickly become a fan-favourite among Scots foodies.
In November last year, the opening of the chicken wing’s branch in the Livingston Designer Outlet caused a frenzy, as around 200 people were spotted queueing up at the doors for two hours before the official launch.
As for the upcoming Glasgow Fort branch, it hasn’t been confirmed what will be on the menu, but we can gather it will be the “bold” and “fresh” flavours that has earned the brand its fan-favourite reputation over its 32-year history.
Its most popular items tend to be its boneless chicken wings in a range of dry rubs including lemon pepper, Louisiana rub and garlic parmesan. Other favourites on the menu include milkshakes, freestyle drinks, Camden Town Beer, as well as a churros selection for desserts.
Speaking on the new opening, Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “Wingstop is hugely popular and a brand our shoppers have been asking to join the centre for a while.
“It’s brilliant to finally confirm it will be joining us soon, and we’ll be able to share more details in the coming months.”
After the Glasgow shopping centre shared the official June 21 opening date on Instagram, local foodies quickly heaped the post with enthusiasm, with many tagging their friends and planning their upcoming trip.
One urged: “our next date.”
Another Wingstop fan praised: “Yaaaasss Wingstop takeover.”
Someone else added: “Countdown is on.”
Another enthusiastic foodie added: “FINALLYYYY.”
While another Glasgow local said: “I have never been more excited about something!!!!!”
