The teacher at a Welsh FE college told one student, ‘I could look at you all day’, but admitted he would be ‘in trouble’ if anyone saw the messages

College teacher Christopher Williams Davies called a student “sweet cheeks” and “good girl” in a series of sexual messages which included fears they would be seen.
Banning him indefinitely from the professional register to teach, a professional standards panel found the messages to two students at Coleg y Cymoedd, which has four main sites in Aberdare, Nantgarw, Rhondda, and Ystrad Mynach, were inappropriate, “sexual in nature” and amounted to professional misconduct.
In one of a series of flirty messages Davies told a student, or someone he thought was a student: “Nobody sees your phone though, right? Among messages he spoke, or sent to the student, Davies also sent a photo of a chocolate bar on his lap and made comments including:
‘What’s it worth?’
‘Persuade me’ ‘
‘So what do I get?’
‘You’re not trying very hard. You can’t want this Freddo that much…’
‘Interesting… What else do I get?’
‘What else you got?’
‘What could you give that you don’t have to buy?’
‘You didn’t show me the photos like you promised’
‘Why can’t I see them now?’
‘Good girl’ and;
‘Sweet cheeks’
The panel found it proved that Davies sent the messages between around October 11, 2023, and November 22, 2023, and also gave the student, identified only as Learner A to protect their identity, a chocolate bar.
In another set of messages, the teacher told a second student “Could look at you all day ngl (not going to lie)” and said “You’re making me very hot under the collar here”.
He also told the student, referred to only as Learner B in the hearing: “Wow you really are incredible” and “these pics are getting addictive”.
Davies then seemed to get worried and messaged Learner B saying: “Nobody sees your phone though, right? Can’t even begin to say the trouble I’d be in if anyone else saw these messages”, and: “Just realised this convo took place on a works platform”.
In another message, in a series he sent to Learner B between around September 26, 2023, and November 29, 2023, Davies said: “You’re giving me very unprofessional thoughts again… You’re getting very good at doing that xx”.
Finding all the above conduct proved the committee, sitting remotely between January 2 and 22, 2026, found that the messages were sexual in nature and that they, along with giving Learner A a chocolate bar, did not maintain professional boundaries.
Publishing the findings online, the EWC said the committee imposed a Prohibition Order, indefinitely removing Mr Davies from the Register of Education Practitioners in the category of further education teacher.
It also decided Mr Davies might not make an application for restoration to the Register of Education Practitioners for two years from the hearing’s decision.
If Davies does not make a successful application for eligibility for restoration to the Register after January 22, 2028, he will remain prohibited indefinitely. He had the right of appeal to the High Court within 28 days of the hearing
