The Food Standards Agency has issued a ‘do not eat’ warning
Poundland & Dealz has issued a warning over a snack which may contain glass, a day after Lidl issued a similar alert. Poundland is recalling The Tasty Snack Co. Roasted and Salted Cashews because the product may contain glass.
The alert covers 100g packs with a batch code of 56T 25255 and a best-before date of July 19, 2026. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling them.
The notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it. A Food Standards Agency spokesman said: “If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to a Poundland store for a full refund (no proof of purchase required). For further information, please contact Poundland & Dealz on [email protected] or 0333 234 1877.”
At the same time, Lidl is recalling a popular snack with a ‘do not eat’ warning as it may contain bits of glass. Lidl has issued a new alert for Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews because the product may contain glass, making it unsafe to eat.
The alert covers 125g packs with a best before date of June 28, 2026. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. The notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.
A Food Standards Agency (FSA) spokesman said: “If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please contact Lidl Customer Care on [email protected] or 0203 966 5566.”
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
